It's much easier on the driver's side, the steering wheel gives a bit of support. I'm pretty quick at getting in and out now without bashing, scraping slipping, snagging or bumping.

The passenger side with the roof on is a nightmare, particularly if you're a girl in a skirt. There is no way to do it whilst maintaining one's dignitity.

You do not. As far as I can tell you are either, very young, very flexible, very nimble and of hobbit proportions.

OR

You get out in a sort of rolling motion that uses your elbows on the tarmac. Or at least that was what I had to do...

I find the best way is to put one foot as far into the foot well as you can manage and then just fall into the seat. Getting the other leg in can be a pain, especially if you can't get the door open all the way.

Of course I've never tried it in a skirt...

I found the best way was to stand with my back to the car and back my arse into the seat region touch my toes then let gravity do the rest. Try it wearing a long pencil type skirt (now back in fashion you know) Another reason we bought a TVR instead.

heres how i do it, much like a previous suggestion, but if you get your foot in as far as poss, you can bend your other knee and touch the ground (palm down)with your right hand (so your kind of facing away from the car at 180 degrees). then simply slide ya ass in and swing your leg in after.

to get out, right foot then sit on the sill with your head down and "slide" along alittle until your able to put enough pressure on your right leg to pull yourself out.

note, i found these "methods" becasuse i fell out alot and so naturally put my palm down to break my fall. i then found by getting on my palm was a good way of sliding in.(you get wet/dirty hands though) whichever method you try, you'll find that you get into a rhythum of leg, ass, leg and after a while its not REALLY an issue.

a top tip, get a removeable steering wheel, SO much easier to get in the bastard.

Watch a NASCAR/ ASCAR race and you'll see this technique in action. Grab the roof with both hands, step into the car with both feet, move your feet forward, and let go. It's how I get in through a MUCH smaller opening.

Except you wouldn't really want to put your body weight on the struts of the elise soft top...

I'm personally of the left leg in bum on sill duck head and fall in to seat fold right leg in which is just about OK as I'm 6'1".

But getting out is more fun as has been said the steering wheel helps. But for passengers - the funniest was the wheel barrow exit - walked away from car on hands till his legs fell out.

I'm a believer in the post you backside in and the rest follows, getting out - I lift myself out so I can sit on the sill and then swing my legs out but you need to be able to get the door open fully.

Ok tried this today opened door grabbed the roof and swung in - for first millisecond I thought all was well but then my left foot punched hole in nearside window and my right foot went through the roof - but although miffed at this (as it was looking expensive) had not calculated on the drop in to the car - unfortunately the gear lever gave me a very nasty penetration - but as the fire bobby said it could have been worse, at least I did not need stitches - anyway result is this method is definitely not recommended and I would like your personal details for my solicitor to begin proceedings to recover damages for losses and personal injury incurred.

Best regards
