Manifold heat shield.

I've recently started getting a tizzzz on start-up from what I presume is the manifold heat shield. It looks as though it's held on with two rusty bolts. These are really awkward to get to, but I have had a size 12 spanner on them and there is no slack to take up. When the engine is cold you can reach in and move the heat shield back and forwards slightly with your hands, and then with the engine running, you can see it vibrate. It's almost like the two rusty bolts have come loose, but as i said earlier, they're on tight. Has anyone else had/got this problem and managed to cure it.

Actually I have been getting a tizz for quite a while when I lift off in 2nd, 3rd, 4th....is there a chance it's just something vibrating ( the shield for example - I saw an anti tizz kit online at some point ), or is my manifold stuffed

Unfortunately there are many things that cause tizzzz s in a Lotus

I very much doubt your manifold is knackered as you would hear it blowing. Best advice is to have a listen in the engine bay whilst it is running (both cold and hot) and see if you can pinpoint it.

get the same noise - and the dealer said "they all ......." etc. Cant find what is vibrating but it does go away as the engine warms up so it must be exhaust related.
