The rear Yokos on my Exige need replacing before Zolder with LoT later this month... I'm near Cambridge. What's going to be the most economical way to get them replaced? There must be a cheaper option than main dealer prices?

Oh, and is there any reason to avoid mixing Toyos on the rear with the Yokos on the front which have quite a bit of life left in them? I've checked my insurance and there's no insistence on manufacturer handbook tyres or policy invalid... The car does pretty much exclusively track days and journeys to/from though, so unless the price is significantly lower I'm happy to pay the extra for the Yokos...

Thanks in advance,
Tol

Similar position last month, good 48's on the front and bald '48's on the rear. I shopped around but best I could get was around £370 for a pair of '48s so I went with Toyo R888's which I got from camskill for £252 and were fitted locally for £20.

I also checked with my insurer who said as long as the tyres were "legal" then there was nothing stopping me using whatever I wanted. With regard to mixing I was advised on a few forums that because of the similarity between the R888 and the '48s there was no issue mixing them. In fact quite a lot of people seem to have a mix for track use when you ask around.

These people are right on your doorstep. I always get mine from them mail order but they'll fit them for you too I believe. They sell both 048s and Toyos. Price is always good.

As for fitting different tyres. I wouldn't upset the handling by mismatching tyres if I could help it.
