Hello All,

I have done it!!! I have bought my first Elise.

I was intending to buy one Privatly but I got messed arround by the seller. (Not chris_w) I arranged to see the car 2 hours after it came back from the Dealers after being serviced. I was driving to see the car on Friday afternoon and I called the guy to say that I was on my way, at this point he told me that someone else was seeing the car!! I arrived there while the other guy was still viewing and he bought the car. Great a 50 Mile round trip for nothing. I was slightly annoyed!

So I went to Bell & Covill on Saturday and picked up the following

Elise s1 111S
2000 V
24,000 Miles
FLSH
Azure Blue
Leather
Good CD
12 Months TAX
B Service (Being done now)
Delivery on Trailer on Friday to my home in Bracknell.
Sports Exhaust replaced with Standard (I know but Insurance wanted another £200 per year!)
Dampers checked and replaced.

Car was up for £18,500. I could not get anything off the price but got all the things dealt with that I wanted.

I know that privatly would have been about £2000 cheaper, but I am happy with what I have got and the Warranty gives me a bit of piece of mind.

Roll on Friday when I get the car!!!!

My first run will be down to Deepest Dorset, the drive will hopefully be great.

Cheers

Ben

Nice one Ben you wont regret it (but you will regret putting the standard exhaust back on).

Dont know what you drove before the Elise but if it was a 'normal' car take it easy to start with. You can get them out of shape quite easily (especially in the wet) and you have the more powerful one

Top colour choice as well.

I would have loved to keep the exhaust on but being 25 the insurance was not cheap and £200 per year seemed very excessive. Mayby later down the line

Congrats, Azure Blue is the best colour (I'm bored of Titanium now!).

Enjoy!

I am intending to enjoy the Elise and also use it as my everydar car (25 mile round trip comute) so it should not be an issue.

Anyone got a hardtop for sale?

Regards

Hi Ben, sounds like a lovely car - enjoy!

I'd echo Davey's comments about driving it in the wet if it's your first time in a mid-engined rwd, especially if the car's on original fitment Pirelli P-Zero's. After a particularly hairy moment on a wet roundabout (with no provocation) I went out and got some Yokohama Advan Neova LTS's (as recommended by Bonce) which are a huge improvement. And if it's not your first time then apologies for the patronising lecture!

Bonce, so you're bored of titanium - do you want to swap?!?

Ben, I'll echo Chris' point about the tyres, P-Zeros are horrible tyres, Advan Neovas are brilliant.

Chris: I could be tempted to do a swap!

Ok, sounds like a plan! Just one small problem... we're moving to New York at the end of the year (hence the sale of our car) and those pesky K-Series aren't legal over there. So if you could just drop in one of those Honda V-Tec thingys I'd be much obliged!
