As title really. Do the prices of Elise's fall over the winter months?

I've got an S2000 at the minute and the MPG is about 24. I'm looking to get a 111s around the 2002 mark (must have later style roof). I know that S2000 prices drop over the winter, is it the same with Elise's?

Thanks, and hi!

I cant speak with any authority but all the buyer info on here leads to that conclusion. Im in the same situation as you, although i dont have anything to sell. Ideally I ought to wait til october/november and sit on my money but that seems to lose potential elise driving time! Buy one in Nov and unless you are keen you spend the first 4 months polishing it!

Mine gets driven all year round, anyone who does otherwise is just soft tongue out

Generally though, they do start to fall a little at the end of the good weather/summer. Although with the current financial climate I don't think they've picked up this year at all from the winter.

I believe now is a good time as any, there are always Elise's at good prices. At the moment, it is hard to shift cars unless they stand out. Offer less, you may be susprised.

Lets face it, if you wait till Oct, you won't enjoy those first months of having one.

It's usually a little cheaper around the end of the year but in the current economic climate it's very much a buyers' market anyway so you probably wont gain much by waiting.

By the way, I think all S2 111Ss had the short-tail roof.

I heard that 2 million fixed rate discounted mortgages expire this year.

This may suggest that as time goes by and the credit crunch bites prices for the newer models (with finance on them) may tumble... especially if people (as being discussed on SELOC) just return their cars to the HP companies when they realise they are worth less than their ourstanding finance but they have completed their 50% repayment obligation and need that cash for higher mortgage payments.

Its bound to have an affect, but sure your better off than having a 612 or the alike.

Its still cheaper to run than Elise than most other supercars - should make people with more expensive stuff change to an Elise/Exige.

Start speading the word ! smile

Still at least we can keep our cars and enjoy better than losing money on a dam house!

Cannot drive a house!

Firstly I would say that it is a buyers market right now and there are some great deals to be had. As mentioned above just bid low and see what you can get.

In winter prices will certainly take a downward slide however I think the main wins can be gained when buying from a dealer as they are more willing to negotiate on extras when the market is quiet let along when the market is quiet and no one has any money to spend.

I got my Elise last Oct and ran it through the winter without any problems as a daily driver. There was nothing better than taking it out on a crisp winter’s day for a blast, as long as you are not an idiot and realise that the conditions are not perfect you will enjoy it just as much.

Consider this, I drove mine all winter without any problems and with a huge smile on my face and only when it warmed up did the other half smash it into a tree!

I think the common response is STOP PRATTING ABOUT AND BUY IT NOW

Prices always drop - rarely go up. With the S2k and the Elise (ive dabbled in both) the fact of the matter is that they are easier to sell when the sun is shining ! Easier to sell the elise all year round as its more enthusiast. Easier to sell the S2k if its something different - I had a yellow JDM and it sold straight away and a friend had a Silverstone Grey with Red - of which there were hundreds - and it took an age to sell.

PS your niche models/better colours as with the S2k will buy and sell better. 135R rocks :-)

I got mine at the end of Sept (a second hand Elise S).. 11500 fantastic miles so far many ofthem were roof off over the winter.. I think I have driven more miles with the roof off than on probably 80-90% biggrin.

Price wise i think that many buyers will wait till spring to sell as its percieved that they will get a better price where as in reality they just flood the market. at the end of the summer though the opposite happens people keep hold of their cars over winter to cash in on the higher prices in spring so supply drops and prices are higher biggrin
