Well I have now decided that after a couple of years of being without my own Lotus I am going to treat myself to an S1!

bounce

I dearly miss my old S1 which was an uprated (similar to a Sport 160) Norfolk Mustard little baestie and I have now realised that I cannot be without one any longer, I will be using it primarily as a track day car and weekend blat mobile and may also do the odd sprint/hillclimb with it too.

What I am really after is a track ready yet road usable car and am open to suggestions on colours, does anybody know of anything out there that may be suitable? I am obviously keeping my eyes on the adverts but thought I would throw it open to the Pistonhead collective.

Edited to add a couple of pictures of my old car -

:hello:

I've spotted a couple that I like the look of, ideally I would want one with susp etc that has been changed already and not over 60k miles as I will do a fair few miles in it (I managed to do 9k miles in 8 months in an aeroscreened R400!) but if I find the right car I can obviously get any upgrades required carried out here at a good ratewink

Great choice. I have loved mine during the last 12 months - having had a 111R and Exige S before that. The first and the best.

yes

Agreed, I am in the very fortunate position of working in this big toy shop but I am itching to get my bum back into an S1 for some LOT/Sprints/Hillclimbs/Nurburgring type fun.

There is just something so pure and delicate about an S1 that is really hard to beat, all I need to do now is find a suitable weapon to spend my pocket money on........

Funnily enough, I have for a while now been thinking about chopping the S1 (which is a third car) for an R400, but just couldn't make the move. The S1 is just so good, and so great to own from a performance, handling and aesthetic perspective. I am sure the Cat has the first two covered, but the third is just not there in the same sublime way.

Well I went directly from the R400 to the above S1 and although the R400 was much faster and more driftable I never regretted going to the Elise.

It was just as much fun on the track as the Caterham (albeit slower) but oh so much more usable.

Oooooh I'm getting impatient now............. whistle

hehehehe

Something looking like this would be perfect -

That 135 upgrade would be my pick of the litter out of that lot (although the Honda would be nice, I still think the extra bang of the Honda isn't worth almost twice the price of a standard car).

That 135 is an MMC-shod car, and so would be one of the earlier (lighter) versions. I miss my MMC S1 like chronic.... mine weighed up at a skinny 685kg and it felt like it too... even though my Exige is no porky pig at 745kg, it's still not quite as fleet-footed. My S1 was the last car to leave Hethel with MMCs and so the last of the "pure" S1s.

Having said that, I'll NEVER part with my Exige... to me it's the perfect mad-b@stard car... perfectly capable of taking me away for a dirty weekend whatever the weather and fast enough to tear my face off when it gets the sniff of a track or a twisty road biggrin

There are 2 111S with upgraded suspension, harnesses and low miles for sub £11 on Pistonheads. I would be looking at these if I hadn't bough mine.

I have just reduced my S1 Exige to 15995 which in my opinion is a very good price for a well sorted car. I need it gone before I go away for 3 weeks on the 12th July. Mail me if you want some info (its a well known car and a couple of specialists would vouch for it)

Unfortunately my budget is really ^£10k so I have ruled out an S1 Exige frown

Perfect car would be an S1 Elise with susp/brakes/exhaust/induction done already with no more than 60k miles. Don't want much do I!!
