I did look under the front bonnet today but couldnt find what the manual was on about?? is it near the fuse box?

No, other side. Should be a red circular bung near the base of the windscreen pllar, pull on it and out comes the wheelnut key and trim remover thingy.

If you don't have one, they can be obtained from Lotus or Rover dealers.
