Elise Mk2 deals?

Hi all

I hope to buy my first Elise ( Mk 2 ) new this year and was wondering what the chances are of getting some money off the car?

I would guess that as there is a waiting list the chances are pretty slim? I spoke to a dealer and he said no straight away but maybe I just never pushed hard enough?

You just think that spending say 26K on a car you could still get a wee freebie! :-)

totally agree..I think you should as well! However, Lotus dealers are still doing the 'oh, theres a waiting list' thing.

That said, Lotus are now producing them faster than they're selling, so I reckon you might at least be able to get some movement, or something nice thrown in... try making a few phone calls to different dealers to ask what they would throw in if you bought from them rather than someone else! nothing to lose after all

In belgium the dealers say that fot this type of car discounts as for the more common type of car doesn't count. However when you discuss a bit it should be possible to get some extra's for free. I got a radio, painting the mirrors and some alu parts for free.
I believe you have to stay reasonable. If you push it to far and your dealer can not make some money, you will have difficulties later on, eg with servicing and waranty. If you are a good client to your dealer he will trheat you like one and in the end this will save you money too !

I got about £1250 off a factory ordered Elise S2 Racetech (getting it in about 2 weeks!). They all start off with the usual bull about waiting lists and no discounts being possible, but once I got one dealer to admit that some sort of deal was possible I was able to make it clear to others from the start that I wanted to order a car and that I knew deals were available so I'd appreciate it if we could cut through the usual bulls**t. Most dealers I spoke to had a number of (usually RT or ST) cars in stock and were keen to move those on. Even though none of the stock cars were exactly what I was looking for placing a factory order didn't rule out a discount as most dealers have build slots reserved for stock cars, the specs of which can be easily changed to meet a customer's requirements. The other side of this is that as the cars have already been ordered by the dealers way before the customer takes over the order, waiting times are reduced. Waiting time for mine will be less than three months.

So, in summary my experience was that it was quite easy to get a offer of about £750 off a base car and £1000 off an ST or RT. A bit more pushing increased these by around £250.
