Elise 2/VX220 Turbo/VX220 Turbo Sprint
Discussion
Unfortunately they understeer because that's what they're designed to do - because we're apparently all used to FWD Euroboxes now and manufacturers don't want us stuffing their cars with anything as daring as oversteer - can be overcome on all said cars by wheel/tyre mods. shame, give me a tail happy car anytime, but we know designers know best
1, skinny front tyres, there to cause understeer rather than snap oversteer. Elise S2, VX220 have 175 front. The Elise S1 had 185 or often 195 IIRC and is noted for tail happiness. Surprised about the VX Sprint as that should have wider fronts and very sticky tyres.
2, Elise has Rover K series engine, VX has Vauxhall engine. I guess the sumps are different.
I take it from both your observations that you were giving the cars some serious large?

Understeer/oversteer
I had my S2 long enough to get used to it and 'push it'
Don’t know about the VX but I find it only will only understeer if I run into a corner off power.
Power it in and it will oversteer every time more power more oversteer.
Only caveat is on a long fast bends I have cocked it up and run out of power to keep feeding in and have got away with a nasty twitch as it tried to spin but otherwise - On the power you can play with oversteer all day.
