Lizzie's battery is dead (even the HAzards don't work) as I found out when I stalled on a roundabout yesterday.

To rectify this sorry situation I need to buy a battery on the way back from work today. What battery sits in the Series 1 Elise - or will the garage be able to check? I couldn't read the spec on mine because the label was obscured by the clamp - does anyone know? Ps - is it really a tough job getting the battery out?

You could buy yourself a charger and get it back up and running and see how you go but if it's that flat when the engine has been running your alternnator could be at fault - a garage can check it's charging OK.

Mine has gone flat a few times after being left for two weeks unused and the charger seems to do the business.

I have heard that the battery is a bit of a pain to get out as you need to remove other bits - the washer bottle and associated gubbins and probably the black plactisc on the back of the rad as a minimum.

may need to charge then - went dead after 2 week holiday - a 30 mile run after jump starting won't do the business - how long a run would be needed to get enough charge back in or does it def need a charge?

(Would have to take battery out of car and into flat to charge up too - is this safe??)

Well the 30 mile drive should have put some juice back in it if all was well. A charge will get you out of jail but it sounds like there could be something more sinister like the battery is totally sh*gged and can't hold charge or the alternator is on the way out.

Charging inside is safe enough just keep an eye on it. I charge mine in situ with the ignition off and it works OK.
