engine noise when hitting the go pedal!

have only just become an elise convert i bought a X reg standard elise. now i have noticed when accelerating from 65mph to 75 mph in 5th the engine noise sounds like there is a lag in responce to the throttle. on starting to accelerate you can hear the balance of the engine change and it sounds like the valves and other bits are not changing speed smoothly (hope this makes sense im not that good with engines) once the initial change in speed has started it smooths out and doesnt happen on hitting the throttle again. this doesnt happen at other speeds it is normal or do i have a problem???

If you're in then it'll takes a second or two for the engine to pick up. At that sort of speed lower gears are much more entertaining

If things weren't changing speed smoothly you'd know about it!
