Firstly let me advise people who are thinking of using a permanent trickle charger to get one that only comes on when the battery actually needs it. I was using a cheap Draper "dumb" unit and over the course of a year it has literally boiled off nearly all the battery acid meaning I had to buy a new one. I got the Halfords calcium HCB063 which fits nicely if you do the wood block brace trick as noted in the elise faqs.

Getting the battery out was a major pain. You have to remove both the starter motor plastic cover and remove the plastic screws from the radiator guard/trim on one side to have even a hope of removing it and I still emerged drenched in sweat with scratches all over my arms! Ah well you live and learn.

Is anyone here using the airflow battery conditioner that seems to be recommended a lot? I need to hear from someone that has used it for a long time and can vouch for it not cooking your battery to death like my old unit did.

I changed my battery in 10 minutes last week standing in a Halfords car park, but then I knew what to expect :P

My dad uses an Airflow one on his 911 I think and seems to be having no problems with using it.
