Does anybody have any reports about fitting the quicker steering rack to the Elise (mk1 particularly)?
I would like one on mine and wonder if it's worth the expense ?

a couple of guys I know over on SELOC www.seloc.org have them and are very pleased with them - maybe ask over there?

from my brief go in an S1 with one fitted it made it much easier to manouvre around tight bends on an airfield course we were on...I think most people fit them when the old rack as had it rather than just replace it for the sake of it

I have the raceline quicksteer pinion fitted to mine..
If your car needs a rack overhaul, then consider that option as it can be fitted whilst its out.
Only 40 quid and fitted thru lakeside.
It takes you th efirst couple of miles to "recalibrate" your eye/hand coordination then its sorted.
Very nice, should have been fitted as standard

Ditto, had pinion swapped when the rack needed reconditioning. I like it, means you can do a 90 degree corner without moving your hands and is only very slightly heavier at low speeds.

Dave Minter (Lotus chassis man) was quoted as saying he prefers the original as it the turn in is more subtle. I prefer mine as it makes the car feel even more reactive, so YMMV. It's possible Lotus realised the car was a bit lively so went for the more conservative option.
