think I've got a case of K-series sticky throttle on my 98 Elise.
comig off the throttle it often stixks at 1500 or 2000rpm, but a blip brings it down again.

what's the cure?

I've got a late MGF 160PS engine sitting at work, so could steal the throttle body from that, but is it a straight swop?

Yes, the throttle body from the MGF Trophy 160 will work perfectly on your Elise. It is alloy not plastic so won't stick, and is slightly wider so may give a small performance increase.

It might be the pedal mechanism or throttle cable that's causing the stickiness though - check these too. Look at www.elise-faq.info for more details.

std Elise has a 48mm alloy TB - Trophy 160 is 52mm. You can buy one for £100 ish and fit within 1/2 hour..if youve already got exhaust/induction kit/cat pipe etc then you should see 1-3bhp peak but maybe 5ft/lb torque in places..I have on on my car.

Only downside is that theres 30% more airflow for a given throttle opening - you have to be smooth on it at low speeds to not kangaroo - other thatn that no probs
cheers

Hi -fish-

You're right, I *seem* to know my stuff, but actually I just copy all my answers off bogie.

So anyway:
