I JUST had to say I've been lurking in the forum for a bit... I've had my 111s (black) for 12weeks now and it is the only registered 111s in Sydney- the other one is yellow and still on the (sole) dealer's floor!

I recently sold my 89SE (turbo)esprit (and regularly posted in the esprit forum- did all my own maintenance)

Have to say the esprit had a real drama about it- in the GT style, but the elise really feels like a RACE car... even just driving (2miles) to work in the morning.... (not everymorning- usually drive my new mini cooper)

Interestingly, based on current exchange rates, my 111s cost me over 38,000 sterling... (due to LUXURY CAR TAX in Australia!!! lotus elise fits luxury car category??? should be a loophole I could get around!) *LOL*

Anyhow... great car! Look forward to tracking it.

sydney, great to see another aussie on here...
i had almost bought the only mk1 111s from melbourne a few years ago until the bank stuck it in and broke it off, so i've been driving a rex and plotting on getting a road legal 340 ( i have worked out a way!!) in the mean time, tassie will have to be content only seeing lotii while targa is on...

Road Legal 340R??? hmm interesting! How? I park my car at the Westin in Sydney everyday (I work across the road and our building is short on car parking) and used to see (last year) a 340R there everyday (owned by guy called Angelo). However, he subsequently had registration issues as apparantly lotus Australia (or Zagame the importer/dealer) had not adequately complied the car- he handed back the 340R and was given an exige..

I will post some pics of my car outside some Sydney landmarks soon...

G'Day Tonykart- no mistaking my 111s- has number plate "LUSTY" and is well known by the Valets!

Nice collection of cars yourself! We should look to catch up when you're in town.

uh yeah, the only thing is i have to live in england for a year, but i may have just picked up a good job in harrogate?? ( i could be in for a suprise here...) but according to import regs if you own a road-legal car overseas for 1 year then it is road-legal when u return....

yeah, i talked to angelo before, said he loved the 340 and sad to see it go.

Ouch! £38K - for an Elise! Still - Sydney has the right climate for it - you can't need to put the roof on much!

Lets see pics of the car at some landmarks, then... I used to live in Sydney for a while and still remember it with great fondness and nostalgia - wonderful City.
