my "mate" is an install fanatic. in exchange for stealing my car for a few shows a year, he is willing to install a dvd player, screen, ps2 into my 111s. supposing it all fits and various problems are resolved, should i do it?

thanks (sorry for keep banging on about in car entertainment!!)

Depends on how fanatical you are about the performance of your car. I imagine that would add a fair bit of weight when you include all the fixings etc.

Hmmmm, my car has a brilliant DVD player - it's called the windscreen. It has the best games console in the world, but it closely resembles the steering wheel, pedals & gear stick!

Sorry, I shouldn't be so sarcastic, but I'm one of those 'old before my time' cranks who can't understand why anyone would want to install entertainment systems in a car which is a entertainment system in itself! I say keep the DVD & PS/2 for the living room!

I have an interest in good installs - but PS2 and DVD seems completely pointless in an Elise. The better installs I've seen have been more about getting clear, punchy sound without adding masses of weight but able to hold the sort of volume you need for an open car.

And on a practical note - I can't think of any way you could hide away all the bits for such a thing in an Elise. They're not the most secure of cars - you really don't want to have £1k+ of gear on show, do you?
