Is there anyone out there who has tried the EliseParts.com gear linkage upgrade? I'm getting fed up missing gears (I'm blaming the equipment for this!) and want an upgrade. Bell and Colvill suggested the EliseSport kit but they said they can't refit the gear change and handbrake shroud if they do that. Not too keen on that. Anyway, has anyone tried it, does it work, is it easy to fit, any other suggestions out there?

I fitted the eliseparts.com kit last year and it is easily the second best upgrade I've made to my car (first best is Advan Tyres). The gearchange is is much more precise. It's still no japanese gearbox but the action is smoother and more rifle-bolt like.

Highly recommended.

Ive had the eliseparts.com gearlinkage fitted and was very impressed. It makes a huge difference for the money, with the gear change action being much smoother. I can't remember if it comes with a shorter gear stick too? If not get yourself one of those aswell, then sit back and enjoy your racing type gear changes.....or not if you drive like me!

Two great recommendations - great! There is a separate short-shift gearstick - I presume you have that then too?

Thanks for the input

I don't have the short gear stick, but I would like one.

Well... back to eliseparts.com though it's a bit expensive I thought. I don't know that the stick is any shorter, but the throw is shorter (by making the element of the stick below the ball joint longer - O grade physics I think...) I'd have thought that would be quite nice. Snick brrrrr snick brrrrrrr snick bbbaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhr

I just fitted both this last weekend - not sure what B&C are on about with the Gear/brake shroud - that's only relevant if you go for the short shift as well (which you should).

It's relatively easy to fit if you have a decent tool-set - access under the rear is the biggest concern - you need 2 jacks / axle stands. It will take longer than the quoted hour though.

The short-shift does change the pivot point, meaning less movement for shifts (feels much tighter across the gate).

I'm still bedding in at the mo and need to make a few more twiddles, but heartily recommend. Transformed for £150

Just fitted both last weekend, makes a big difference. It now feels more mechanical and less rubbery. Currently bedding it in and expect it to loosen up a little over the next thousand miles or so. One hint, the bellcrank is identified as being 70mm centre to centre. On my car it was more like 76mm, best advice is to measure the old one accurately for length and angular position replicate this, then you do not need the trial and error bit. Starting from 70mm could be a long and frustrating excersise.
