Elise S2 Spec

Hi guys... May i pick yr brains ??

Ive been offered the following Elise.

2001Y.. laser blue...racetech 14k miles.. alcantera twin sports exhaust etc.. demo +1 owner....£18k

Is this a good deal ??
I was originally after a S1 111s because of more BHP... how does the above compare ??

Thats a fair price

Its Race Tech rather than Sports Tourer trim, so it wont have carpets (unless the owner has added afterwards) and will probably on have a 2 speaker stereo - other than that hardly any difference.

Power will be 120bhp ish - stick a sports exhaust, cat rep pipe, induction on there to see 135bhp (£600)

if you want more then spend £2K with www.dvapower.com on the S2155kit + 52mm TB for 160bhp ish

so is racetech the basic version in the S2 ??.. 120 BHP sounds a bit feeble ??

Race tech and Sports Tourer are the two "Option" cars - eg they have a particular set of options already included in the price. The Standard car has very little on it but was about £4K cheaper (I think...) ie: no Leather, No carpets, No Metallic paint etc etc

Oh and you probably won't find too many of those around as the dealers did'nt like to order them much as noone wants to buy one at all.

So will it still only have 120 BHP even with the sports exhaust ??..... Is 120 BHP adequate ??....I have driven the basic S1 and found it rather underpowered ??....

with a sports exhaust most std cars are around 128bhp on a dyno, 132 ish with induction kit and 135-137bhp with cat pipe or sports cat

If you think its under powered then save for an S2111S (156bhp std) or go for an S1 111S (143bhp std) both cars end up with 155-165hbp with bolt ons...the 143bhp was underquoted by Lotus a touch.

If you cant stretch to an S2111S and its really an S2 you want then get the car above(the cheapest S2 you will find) and then spend £2K with DVA for 160bhp/140ft/lb ...much more useful

Thanks guys.... i think i would be silly not to buy the car for that price...its only just above trade money price from what i can gather.
