Having not used the car for the last five weeks or so I tried and failed to start her up due to a flat battery.

I have tried to jump start following the Lotus handbook guidelines. Although the battery will charge the car will not turn over as the imobiliser does not appear to turn off, has the battery drain wiped any codes to do with the Cobra alarm system? or I am missing something obvious?

Help would be appreciated as I need to get her going by the weekend to take her for replacement brakepads.

Thanks

Probably not much use to you right now, but I bought an Optimate battery conditioner after this happened to me once too often, which is good enough to recharge the battery overnight if you do flatten it.

To jump/bump start it, you should be able to use the manual immobiliser thingy, although you may also need to switch off the alarm with the key first.

Cheers Wob, have since managed to acquire a trickle charger to get the battery charged, I hope, in time to get me down to Cos @ Haydons for the green stuff pads. Badly in need of the pads as to much time spent standing on the brakes on track days.

Do have an e-mail add? send it to me if you do.

In the end I took the battery out to recharge it which is a pig of a job to do, the words 'tight' and 'fit' spring to mind. The battery design is not brilliant as the red handle is rather flimsy and feels like it will break as the battery is pulled out.

The manual is corect about the engine being a bit lumpy for the first 50 miles, but the settings sonn sorted themselves out and all seems to be OK now.
