Before I start - no one get upset if I don't like the colour of your car please!

For the S1 I think New Aluminium (slight bias there), azure blue, deep purple and titanium look good. I don't think the solid colours show of the car so well. FFS don't get a white one - if you can find one that is!

For the S2 I would go for Ruby Red or Laser Blue (is that right?) and I've seen a couple in black which look good too.

I think the orange was for the Exige only.

Best idea is to look on Autotrader where there will be a photo of most colours for you to look at.

Perhaps time to hide from impending tirade of abuse

I think Azure Blue looks best with Titanium coming in second.

Silver does hide the stone chips very well as the primer/bodywork underneath is light grey so you can hardly see them. It'll also hide any light scratches well (found a load on mine when cleaning it).

The orange looks pretty good. But 13k seems high for a P reg - probably because it has history, being in a book etc.

What is your budget? To give you an idea of what you can get, mine is a '98 S with 4000 miles on it and it cost me £14,250 but there are a lot around in the 12k to 14k bracket.

I'd get some quotes before you go too much further - unless you can keep the miles down and garage it then you could be in for a nasty surprise.

Organise a test drive at a dealer too as, with the greatest of respect, not too many private sellers are going to let a 21 year old prospective buyer drive their car - I wouldn't. Then get it inspected to check for any hidden problems. Finally - enjoy!

With the budget you have try www.adrianblyth.co.uk and www.paulmattysportscars.co.uk

Dealers only have expensive cars or charge you too much for the high mileage ones...

You can see samples of all the S2 colours and pictures of cars in each colour at www.s2elise.co.uk

My vote is for Silver Mica, but I'm biased....

Direct line will insure me for £1200 fully comp so thats not too bad i must have an ok post code? You would be supprised at how many test drives a 21 year old can get ive been on two dealer drives and three private ones,i do look older than i really am and am very serious about elise ownership. How old is your average owner anyway? I see some real young looking people driving them.

Peter, I know the person who owned the Chrome Orange press car before the people who are selling it on this site - I can't vouch for the current owners but I know the previous owner looked after it very well - no expense spared in fact, and he put some quality upgrades on it too.

Thats a pretty good deal I reckon.

You've been on five test drives and not bought one? HOW? What was wrong with them? How can you drive five examples of such a great car and not want to buy one?

That would be me - I'm 27 but don't look a day over 18

Understood - perhaps try Hairdressers Monthly or similar for a quick sale!

Hope you get something sorted out soon.
