So this is the first time I've had to tax it but £80 is nearly double what I was expecting for 6 months tax. Checked it out with the DVLA and the elise is in the C tax bracket (177g/km). This is the second highest tax bracket. I was under the impression that CO2 emissions were really low and it would be band A or B. Oh dear!

Its deceptive as the lower 3 or so bands only seem to apply to 5cc LPG engines. Didn't there only used to be 2 bands, but fatty 2 jags added more to make it look like it was our cars that were evil, and not him and his wife who doesn't like walking.

Oh how lucky you all are...in Hong Kong costs are as follows:

Lotus Elise S2 111s = GBP35,000 (new 360 GBP235,000)
Yearly Road Tax = GBP500 (for 355 costs GBP900)
1 litre of super unleaded = 98 pence (imagine getting thru 120 litres a week in a 355)
Insurance with 60%NCB = GBP1,250 (for 355 costs GBP3500)

So Lotus gives a MASSIVE saving over a Ferrari here! Which is one reason I swapped.

But I probably won't get any sympathy from anyone because I get to drive my car with the roof off all year...
