I'm considering a sports exhaust for the Elise to increase the noise levels and deepen the pitch -- having previously owned a Chimera, I miss the rumble.

Lakeside Engineering have offered to fit a 'Raceline' exhaust for around £350, with the option of by-passing the cataltyic converters.

Anyone have any opinions on different exhaust options out there?

Just picked up your message, FWIW I have a chris neil pipe with cat replacement on my 97 s1 - very loud if thats what you want> I believe raceline is good as is the janspeed from lotus, but pricey. my chris neil was about £250 and cat rep £40 delivered in 24hrs as well!

I have a chris neil exhaust and cat rep pipe and it is fine - pops and bangs especially on the overrun, well priced as well. maybe too loud for some people though

I'm also considering getting a SS exhaust & have my heart set on the Christopher Neil jobby. I went over on Saturday to have a listen but they didn't have any S1s in with them fitted. They did have a Sport 160 (although I don't know what it had on) that sounded absolutely huge, it wasn't so much exhaust note as whole back of car roar. Even the Caterhams that I've heard before don't really compare.
There was also a chap who drove off from there in a black S1 about 4pm. If it's you I'd like to know what exhaust you have fitted.
£400 fitted, hmmm, best ask Santa.

Fitted my chris neil and cat rep pipe myself, took about an hour using wheel ramps and a good socket set, good opportunity to replace the (inevitably) rusted catalyst nuts and bolts with stainless ones too. Im definately impressed, Im sure it shoots flames!
