Fitting inside elise
Discussion
Think i have finally decided between a elise and chimaera, completly different animal i know but running costs were important to me so no contest there then, as handling in the rain also. But my main question is as a 6 ft fairly large build person will i fit in ok,i know i should try one but so far none close to me to try.
6ft should be fine. There is an owner who is 6.4".
You may find that 5th gear is a problem as the stick may be in your leg. This can be resolved with an adjustable quickshift stick - makes it shorter and you can adjust its angle as well.
If the steering wheel is too low into your legs etc. You can get a removeable one as that moves it closer to you (new boss with quick release on adds a few cm).
You may still not fit, but theres a fair chance you will be ok.
Havent been in a chimp, but a 6.3 colleague from work said he couldn't fit in one due to head room.
I am 6 foot 2 and drive an S2. When I test drove the S1 the lack of leg room by the gearstick and the high sides were too restrictive to consider, however the lowered sides on the S2 give you more room to move your accelerator leg and there seems to be a noticeable few centimetres space between steering wheel and gearstick!
I have had her a year and no premature visits to the chiropractor have yet been necessary!

I'm 6'1 although somewhat a streak of p1ss, and I have no problem with head or leg room. Most tall people who have been inm my car compalain about getting in and out rather than legroom. Most fat people seemed to struggle to gett the seatbelt plugged in, as their gut spills over onto the seatbelt plug.

I have had no problems getting in a s1 elise, and iam 6ft 2, room inside seemed great, plenty of head room etc., when i passengered though did seem a bit more cramped. As for chimaera, test drove one a few months back and was really put off by the pedals being really close together and the space where they are tapering down due to large center console, this totally ruled one out for me and my size 11 feet!!! Tuscan on the other hand not a problem, but too expensive, elise i have found to be just right!!!!
Another 6 footer here, depending on what you mean by heavy built, up to about 16 stone you should be fine, thereafter you'll definately need to try one out!
only comment is that it gets a bit cosy if you are giving another big mate a lift...
Did my advanced driving test last week in one so me (6ft 14 stone ish), and Police Driving Instructor (6ft 15 stone +), no real problems - roof off though, so meakes it feel less cramped!
BTW/ what do you mean about wet weather handling?
tips: make sure it's on decent tytres and take it easy, until you are used to the car. The first time you boot it out of a corner in the pouring rain you'll see why!

I'm 6.4 and about 16 stone, bought a 111s at the beginning of the month although due to the number of miles my work requires my wife get s the car during the week and it's mine at weekends ;-), it can be a bit difficult getting in and out but with a little practice you can get round this, the biggest issues is lack of room around the steering wheel (Legs get in the way) and when its in fifth the gear stick can push on your leg although as you are typically cruising in fifth you can move around and get comfortable. Best thing to do is try one, if you can out up with it I would definitely go with and Elise, I've driven the TVR and it is half as much fun.
I'm six foot two and a 17 stone barn door/beermonster. Get the elise - I have no major probs - get in and out OK (even last year after a knee op.). Admit that forth is more comfy than five as left leg does rest of gear stick, and my additional "BULK" has caused the seat belt dooffer to rub against the centre plastic thingy and caused some scratches.
But who cares, I love driving it!
JUST GET ONE!
seat height can be adjusted on the chim ( but you may need a spanner ).
you may have tried one that was up high. i understand that peter wheeler is well over 6 foot, and all tvrs are designed to accomodate the larger lad ( or lass ) as a result. the previous owner of mine is 6'2" and well built - he had no problems.
