Went to view a new aluminium S1 over the weekend, T plate, £13.750, 25k on the clock. It seemed ok, not many stone chips, leather interior in good condition, but some bits were a bit tatty, door seals, the dash board had scratches, exhaust was leaking water/oil? abit, one alloy was curbed badly, is this the condition of most second hand elises??? I was a bit put off by this, would like a reasonably good condition car for 14k!!!! or is this just the norm?

I would keep looking - you will find a better one for the money.

Best to find one without buggered alloys as that just about guarantees you'll need the geometry done too.

dank - Just keep looking, one will turn up! Condition will be all over the place at the moment as near summer people will punt on cars that they have waited to sell, prices = high. Or, owners of iffy cars will sell because demand is higher.

They are ou there you just need to look. As for advice, pick your spec (colour etc) and buy on condition not year. I recently bought an earlier car than I intended but the condition was fantastic and the colour (norfolk) and spec was exactly what I wanted...

I'd pick a few colours that you are happy with rather than a specific one, unless you have all the time in the world Not worth getting a dog just because you like the paint 2% more.

And dont be too obsessed with mileage - IMHO its better to get an enthusiast owned high miler thats been used, therefore looked after, niggles sorted etc than one owned by a GJOB thats done 2K a year and polished with all the consumables ready to fail as soon as you start hammering it.

cheers for the advice guys, think I am going to hold off until late summer/autumn when prices will be lower and people want to sell them due to impending bad weather, Azure blue or tittanium still my choices, tittanium with black exige alloys would look very nice indeed!!
