Hi

Just about ready to get my hands on a Elise (the fiesta needs to go!!).. I really want to buy private but since I don't know alot about cars/engines etc..I will need to get the car checked over first.

Is it worth getting say the AA to do a full mechanical check on a Elise or would it be best taking the car to the nearest Lotus garage and paying them to look it over?.. I was just thinking that a AA mechanic might not have checked over a Lotus car and might not know want to check for.

Cheers

A Lotus specialist, reputable dealer (find one) or experienced friendly Elise owner in your area

try www.seloc.org or tech Elise BBS at www.british-cars.co.uk

there will be someone with a recommendation for your area

I went through the same process about 3 months ago - after nearly buying a car that had had an AA check. It was evident that the AA guy had no idea what to look for, citing rough ride and noisiness as problems.

In the end, paid £110 for Bell and Coville Lotus to inspect it - absolutely superb, and so thorough I nearly didnt buy the car!.

The peace of mind factor is most important - at least if mine blows up, I'll know I did all I could.
