Youre obviously taking too much time then ..what do you find to do for 4 hours? are you taking the wheels off or something? .....you could have been out driving it

takes me around an hour just for a wash, leather dry, hoover out, clean windows - do this nearly weekly, otherwise I cant see out of the windows and/or get dirty getting in it with my suit on !

probably 3 hours max every 3 months or so when I give it the full works with the Meguires stuff - cleanse, polish, couple of layers of wax, as well as all the above

God knows why it takes me so long

Maybe you could come and clean it for me and I could watch and learn

p.s. I think its the wheels that take me the longest

Dan - you got a jetwasher?

I use mine - but only to rinse the car at start/finish (not on high pressure) and for the wheels. When my wheels are caked and black rather than gold, it takes 5mins per wheel max, and I do them first.

Just jet blast them gets rid of 90% of the dust, then a quick go with a small brush and sponge, then a rinse.

I can come and demo if you like - I charge £25 an hour + expenses at cost for weekend work

I reckon 30 minutes, without a hose pipe (couple of buckets to rinse off) but that doesn't include hoovering or polishing. I bought it in feb and have washed it 3 times now (1000 miles) and polished it once. I should do it more often because it always surprises me how much better it looks clean and shiny!

No jet wash and nowhere to plug one in

I think thats my problem. Wheels are hideous work and end up in lacerated hands every time.

It takes me 1 to 2 hours depending on how anal I'm being about it. I've only polished it twice in two years, which is pretty bad I know. I must get a decent wax/polish kit this year!

I always do the wheels first because I hate it so much that I just can't stand the thought of tackling them when I'm tired from cleaning the rest of the car!

Dan

Have you tries Wonder Wheels? Doing the wheels only takes me about 10-15 minutes for the lot (I only do the bits you can see though, none of this removing the wheel stuff!). The only problem I get is backache from bending down to clean them.

I found by taking the wheels off an giving them a real good wash and plenty of wax polish both inside and out makes future cleaning a lot easier for the next few months/thousand miles.
Bit of a pain to do but worth it in the future.
Used to have bikes and they were a real pain to keep clean so all seems easy now

i HAVENT CLEANED MINE FOR WEEKS, ANY VOLUNTEERS?
MY TIP WOULD BE TO USE AUTOGLYM DEGREASER ALL OVER THE ENGINE BAY, AGITATE WITH A BRUSH AND WASH OFF! SAME GOES FOR THE WHEELS WITH AUTOGLYM WHEEL-CLEANER THEN NICK THE HOOVER FROM THE HOUSE AND GIVE THE INSIDE A GOOD GUTTING OUT. WAHEY!
