The boot has jammed on my S1 111s and I can't open the damned thing. The guy I bought the car off had the soft top in the boot, the ribs of which are pushed in above the lip at the top back of the boot space (just in front of the engine compartment). I think the ribs have trapped the cable, I can pull the release handle and hear something something moving (like the catch) but the boot won't open. I gave it a good yank, probably not the best thing to do, and the release handle has loosened. I don't think it's snapped, but I'm at a loss as to what to do now to open the boot lid. Can anyone offer any helpful hints????

Try moving the boot lid from side to side whilst someone else pulls the release.

Or try grabbing and pulling the release cable where it passes inside of the drivers side rear wheal arch liner.

Thanks Steve, the locking nut on the release cable had slipped. A bit of boot wiggling and cable pulling finaly opened the thing so I could fix it.

quix - try re-aligning the peg where it attaches to the engine cover, else it'll probably happen again... do a few 'test' closes to get the right position (ie don't actually close it, just lower the peg and see it aligns with catch else it might jam VERY badly!

Thanks for that zebedee, I'll be checking it as soon as I get back tonight.
