I have recently purchased a lotus elise (picked it up Saturday)
Its a mark 2 sports tourer
I have been wondering if it is possible to shorten the gear stick. It seems a bit long.

Also was wondering if anybody new of a way of keeping stuff from sliding about. Im used to a glove box!!!!

Everytime I go round a corner everything slides about!!!

Im not supposed to go slowly round corners am I???!!

go to eliseparts.com & buy the shortshifter & gear linkage kit.

what stuff is sliding around?! CDs go down the side of the drivers seat, everything else in the boot !

Not convinced about the linkage kit in the S2, although the short shift should be fine. You can get a liner for that tray in the dashboard that stops things sliding. Talk to your dealer.

Wrt stuff sliding around, www.autostylesolutions.com will sell you an aluminium shelf divider. IT's kind of pricey at £18 what is essentially the bottom of a coke can, but it might be what yuo are looking for.

A better solution is not to take "stuff" out with you in the car because stuff = weight and weight is the enemy of the Elise. I also reckon you could lose a few pounds!

Just buy a CD holder wallet and put it behind the passenger seat. Works for me.

I 2nd much of whats been said below

get a cd case - stuff it down side of seat

gap down side of passenger seat makes a good drinks holder

dash tray liner (£17 from Lotus in leather) seems to work for stuff in the tray

dont bother with the linkage kit on an S2 - Ive doen 22K miles in mine and it feels fine just with Gearys short-shift

other than that a small football boot bag from a sports shop fits perfectly in the gap in the rear shelf - with a u shaped zip top it makes a handy containter for other junk you dont want flying around...about £7

With stuff sliding around in the trays try some of that rubber mat stuff they sell in DIY stores - looks like a rubber string vest... Lots of people use it for securing themselves in a Kart and its VERY sticky.

Cheers for the help

Will be buying some dividers!! Its for a glasses case!!Need to see everything when Im going this fast!!!!!!!

With the gear stick it was phyiscally shortening the gear stick rather than the gear change!!

I have no problems with that!!!!

Have another question!!

Am already scuffing up my leather getting in and out have seen a couple of kits to protect it. Does anyone know if these are any good??

Seen 1 on eliseparts.com!!

I had a similar problem with the gear box being well over 6 feet tall. I had a short shifter fitted this week and aside from the shorter throw the lever is slightly shorter. I have only covered a few miles since having it done but have noticed a great deal of difference, I can get it in 5th without any trouble! It cost 190 quid plus 70 labour, money well spent.
