Help!

Insurance is up for renewal and need to dump Priviledge after some misselling on their part!

Can anyone recommend their exisiting insurers based on price, package and service?

Phone numbers or web addresses gratefully accepted!

Direct Line are okay, particularly if you get home insurance from them (15% discount). However they do require a tracker to be fitted.

I use Footman James - haven't been with them long so can't comment on service but their quote was cheapest by miles (£450 vs £900+). No tracker required either just the standard cat 1 alarm/immobiliser.

Wesite is www.footmanjames.co.uk

Direct Line for me. Recently renewed with them for £700, it would have been £600 without the NCB protection.

They didn't ask for a tracker or for it to be garaged either... Must live in a good area, me thinks.

For some reason you don't need tracker if renewing with Tescos or DL, only if you're a new customer. Some kind of loyalty bonus.

Or disloyalty penalty for the rest of us.

For me privilege were miles cheaper, but with a tracker requirement. My premium is around £480. The next cheapest for me was over £600. Luckily for me my car already had a tracker fitted to it. Privelege are a subsidiary of Directline and they probably wont quote against a sister company. F.James were about £800 !! A.Flux about £650 but only 5000 miles per year.

Hi abz, I left privilege too and went with Esteem as they're the only insurers I could find that would cover me for track days too. Best of luck!

Once again thank you one and all for your two pence worth.

Struggled to get a better quote than the Priviledge renewal and tried all your recommendations but as a 24 yr old owner with 1yrs NCB on the current Elise it was a struggle.

For anyone in the same boat (ie young and dangerous) thought you might like to know that Admiral gave the best quote (Priviledge was 1900) with 1370 squid! All other quotes were between 3000 and 6000! It was harder renewing than it was to get a first time policy last year when I was only 23!

No amount of money was going to keep me from driving the most fun i have ever had on 4 wheels though now was it??? Ok anything over 2k was gonna cause a rethink

I've just got my Lotus but had a hell of a job getting a decent premium on it as A) I'm 28, B) I live in London and C)It's been modded.

I found Elephant.co.uk to give a fantastic quote, until they found out that it had been modified . They only insure standard cars [with minor mods] but might be worth a try if that's what you've got.

I ended up going with Frizzell [0800 748 748] as they don't care if the car has been modified. I also heard that Tesco's can offer quite competitive rates.

Good luck...

I'm 22 and found best quote to be elephant at £1260 (that's without taking into account 2 years NCD which they would not accept due to a 2 year break without a personal policy).

Like Abz said, if you are young and dangerous, most places will quote £3000+. I think elephant are generally one of the better insurers for under-25s. Be warned though - elephant will up the premium by £100 for even simple mods like a K&N air filter.

The Lotus Esteem (AON) scheme save me over £1000 compared to the next best quote on my Sport 160, and they include track day cover.
