Steam cleaning an S2

Has anyone given their Elise S2 a post winter steam clean before?
Any horror stories.
I was thinking just the arches, underbody wheels etc to get rid of the salt and dead livestock etc

My mates cerbie has warning stickers all over the engine bay warning against it...strongly!

As they dont rust is this a pointless idea?

Dunno, but I'd probably do it with a jet wash rather than a steam cleaner. Steam is very hot, and the car is made of plastic...

Is the danger with Steam cleaning not related to the electronics in the engine bay? I thought that this was the reason why engine bay's shouldn't be steamed cleaned.

IIRC, stream cleaning an engine bay including a Thatcham Immobiliser can invalidate it certification....

I cleaned my S2 dozens of times with a cold water jet wash- including the engine bay after squirting TFR all over it -obviously with the engine cold. Havent noticed any ill effects/not starting/fire/etc.

Is this not a good policy then?

Car is fine - seems I overdid it jet washing the engine...water in relay, resulting in cam angle sensor fault therefore car not started ...sorted quickly by Sinclaires
