Advice on new Elise!!
Discussion
I have just done it...signed up for a 1999 Elise Sport 135 at the weekend...and can't wait to pick it up!
One quick question...what should the temp by after 10-15 minutes of fairly hard driving? It was sitting at about 98 I seem to remember, when I finished the test drive...is this too high?
Any advice on being an Elise owner would be appreciated, as I am very green behind the ears.
Thanks
Dick

Top choice mate you won't regret it.
I have only had my S1 for about 8 weeks but can't get enough of it. I get withdrawal symptoms if I dont drive it for more than a day and get out as much as I possibly can on the weekends. When the sun is out and the roof is off there are not many places I would rather be.
As for the temprature mine is usually between mid to high 80's even after a good blast. Not sure about the S2 but no doubt some owners on here can advise. I don't think there is too much to worry about untill it gets into treble figures though.
Good luck with the car and let us know how you get on.

Wrt operating temperature. I believe the thermostat is set to 88degC. Even with hard driving, mine doesn't rise much above ninety. However, when stuck in traffic, the temperature gauge has been known to hit 98degC (S2 S135). Apparently this is quite normal. If you checked out the obvious things I'm sure that it's no cause for concern. Have fun with it!
I feel better now, thanks guys.
Hopefully will get it before easter weekend, as off to Devon for a few days! Having to ask other people to take some stuff for us though!!
Just got a new job that takes me out of the city, with a 15 min commute to work, hence the present to myself. I am kind like that!
