My mate is looking to buy a second hand s2. He found a car that seems to be an opportunity.
The previous owner was honest enough to tell him that the engine check light on the dashboard has flashed couple of times. According to him (the seller) the incident had had to do with bad quality gasoline (the guy insists that he only filled up the car in a station near his place, and the incident happened couple of times when he refilled, on gas stations on motorways). Does the above makes any sene… ? any ideas

A blinking light means that the ECU is detecting a misfire.
If it does not stay on then the misfire was not bad enough to trigger a full error.
Still the ECU should have recorded these events. A trip to a Lotus dealer (or someone with a generic OBD scanner) should make it clear if there is only a misfire code/error present or anything else.
Bye, Arno.
