1st Service on Saturday - Warranty work?
Discussion
Hi guys,
I'm taking my S2 Elise in to Stratton Motors for it's 9000 mile service this Saturday.
There are a couple of cosmetic warranty bits and the "twangy" throttle spring that I will get sorted out whilst I'm there.
But bearing in mind that I've only recently bought the car (first Elise) and the Warrenty runs out in April is there anything else I should be aware of and have done at the same time?
Cheers

So far IIRC have had: No break lights, leaking boot, leaking windows/roof, alarm going off for no reason (normally at 3 a.m.), rattling shocks (replaced), rattling suspension ball joint (replaced), rattling doors (new pins fitted), bad door alignment rubbing on front clam, loose seatbelts, rubber round windscreen came unstuck, other rubber trim fell off, throttle spring twang, interior light badly fitted, steering wheel not straight, steering wheel squeak, faulty battery, seat trim falling off, alarm sensor buzzing against black plastic behind the seats, door locks ceased up (summer), latch pins on roof bars became stuck, Radio is not fit for purpose (even with the dealer fitted kitchen foil added to the boot)...and it's only done 5k miles. All sorted now apart from the radio.
If you are taking it in to Strattons just check everything is ok before leaving. The last two times that my partner has taken her S1 in it has had to make a return trip. The first was for the boot cable replaced, but in doing so they disconnected the speakers. The other time was adjusting the windows to prevent it dripping in at the top front edge. Problem is after they finished you could fit your finger through the whole they created at the back edge top of the window. It also seems suspicious that there is two paint chips off the inside of the door just above and below the window winder on the edge meeting the plastic. It looks like damage caused prising off the plastic to get at the mechanism - but I cannot prove this. This aside they have done some good services over the last 44K miles.

A common problem is the suede covering on the top of the dashboard, this can bubble up where the glue has come unstuck. Also if you have leather on the inside of the doors, this can come unstuck.
I think one of the most common problems with the S2 is the doors rubbing on the front clamshell.
Lotus may have got their act together on these items, so if your car is only 12 months old, they may have addressed these issues on the production line.

Would not go to Strattons in the first place, not particularily professional IMHO, the labour charge was wau over even the conservative time Lotus quoted for the job they did on my car.
Albeit Mr Bennington gains brownie points for helping running a Lotus in this years GT Cup an ex GT car from the 2002 Italian campaign.
