Elise lights: Xenon or Halo?

Someone told me the lights on the Elise (MkII) are Xenon as standard. Is this so, or are they Halogen? And is Xenon an option..?

Halogen - and no Xenon option. Geary at www.eliseparts.com does a conversion kit though

No. Halogen H1 for dipped beam and H7 for high beam.

And is Xenon an option..?

No. If Lotus wanted to sell these then type approval of an HID system would require:

- Auto-levelling load-compensating headlights.
- Headlight washer system (pressure washer or wipers) to keep the headlights clean

Both systems add considerable weight and complexity to the car.
