Just looking to see if anyone has had any problems with their std CD head unit on the S2. Picked my 111s up on Friday last week and whenever the car/head unit is cold it will not read the CD for anything up to 3/4 hour. Got back in touch with dealership and waiting for them to come back to me.

Also, lighting. Anyone else noticed that the dipped beam is crpa? Any solutions please?

Thanks

My S2 headlights are excellent - they probably need adjusting.

Try not leaving the cd in the unit - sometimes on damp mornings condensation can stop the cd player from reading the cd. The std unit is pretty poor for some reason with this, since I upgraded mine to an Alpine MP3 jobbie I dont have any probs with theis
cheers

The paint on some of the buttons on my 'vdo' unit started to wear off after just 2 weeks. Also there are some features of the unit that do not work on the Elise, such as speed sensitive volume control.

Also, I had a problem with poor headlights, but I took it to my dealer who adjusted them to the upper limit of what is allowed. I now don't need to use full beam, the lights appear to be pointing slightly up from horizontal, but do I care?

I have had the same stereo problem. Seems to only happen when it's freezing outside, but I get "CD Error 3" whatever that is. Unfortunately, due to a boot leak a while ago, my stereo manual is now paper mache so I can't interpret what it means. I went to the Clarion web-site to find that Lotus are fitting a discontinued model. Cheers Lotus! No wonder it looks ancient!

A bit O/T now regarding the boot leak - Any S2 owners out there that park on a slope of more than 20 degrees either have to park facing downhill or get the Lotus dealer to drill a new drain hole, as the drain holes have moved to the hinge end of the boot. Apparently this is a recognised service bulletin from Lotus... The first question they asked me was "do you park on a hill?"

Mine don't have as much range as I'd like with them dipped, but I think any adjustment would make them illegal. My parents old lexus with halogens also had a similar pattern.

I did find them scarily bad the other day after going for a bit of a run in the country. Stopping and cleaning all the mud off made a very appreciable difference
