Which Elise to buy?

I am looking to buy an elise in April. Cant quite afford a new one so i am looking at used ones. Not sure weather to go for a Mark I or Mark II. Also if there is anything that I should be watching out for when buying an elise. Any help would be appreciated.

Whats your budget - Average S2 or mint S1?

I personally have a S1 as my everyday car - I do about 12K miles per year. Its an absolute hoot to drive and comfortable enough for a run upto yorkshire (about 220 miles for me). There are plenty of tuning options available for the S1 but I have'nt bothered with any of them yet as I'm still getting to grips with the current setup.

The main reason I bought the S1 over an S2 is because I did'nt need any finance to get the S1 but an S2 would have seen me in hock for an additional £10K.

I test drove an S2 but did'nt see much difference for the extra cash plus Lotus dealers are particularly rubbish at PX offering me less than 2K for my porsche at the time - which I later sold for £5500!

Look/test drive a number before you commit yourself. Best bargain out there IMHO is the S1 111s. T/W reg, 15k miles - private sale - £15k.
