I've been looking for a copy of the S1 service manual as my front left suspension has been making a weird thumping noise on the move at low speed. It also thumps when you push the front left hand corner down think it may be the bushes as my s1 has done 32,000.
Any advice on what I should be looking for as I'm not that mechanically minded hence the service manual.
PS I've managed to find a site that has the manual online as previous URLs are now dead. I downloaded it this morning and its a 26Mb pdf file.

Umm. How can we help? If its the banging noise - I've got a similar problem on my S1 - only 19k - Let me know if you find the problem.
i had the same problem, it means it's time to replace the suspension, i'm not sure what part of the suspension it is, and mine went around that kind of distance, like most things on the elise, it tends to be cheap, i changed it to the lotus sports suspension, it's great, but you have to be evenmore careful with speed humps
I've had a look at the suspension and it appears to be fine. If you drive it with the CD player on you wouldn't know there's a problem.
I think that maybe I'm in denial about this...
Seriously though I've had a look through some other threads and it might me the anti roll bar bushes . I'm planning on jacking the car up and having a look about tomorrow. to see what I find.
I hope it is just the bushes as I've know idea how much it would cost to replace the front suspension as readies are fairly tight at the moment.
