I have just fitted a Hurricane Induction kit to my S2 of which I would recommend to anyone. The noise and power increase are worth the 170 quid

Something I have noticed is the engine will rev upto 6k a lot easier than b4. If i'm being honest anything above 5400rpm with the standard airbox, the noise produced reminded me of a Talbot Sunbeam ! so this wasn't a common thing

Now I'm happy reving the nads out of my car, a red light appears on the dash at high revs - CONCERN !
All I want to know is it safe to keep doing this or am I about to pop a Piston or four through the cylinder head

P.S can't find my hand book, so is it a gear shift up light or not??

:-) LOL - have you never seen that light before !?

yep - its a shift up light at 6500rpm, soft cut is 6950rpm

TIP: ..always rev car in gear until red light flashes ;-)

yep - its so much better with an induction kit !

cheers

I asked my dealer if the change up light could be set to operate at a lower rpm, they however said that it was fixed.

The only mod I have on my S2 is a Janspeed s/s sports exhaust. I drive my car hard and I rarely have had the change up light operate.

ps. You should have noticed this light before as it's the alarm light.

If you haven't noticed it, you haven't been driving hard enough!

I never rev above 3k until my cars warmed up mind, but to never hit the change up light at all is funny

p.s. Why would you want to move the change up light to a lower position? Thats the optimum position for a standard Elise engine taking into account the drop in revs you get when upshifting.

I have trouble not bouncing off the limiter :-0 - due to the short period between light coming on and limiter cutting in when in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd ...it really does accelerate quicker if you let that light come on now and again !;-)

S1 dosent have one IIRC

You cant change the point at which it comes on unless you fit an Emerald ECU - then you program the light, soft cut rev limit etc wherever you like

The S1 doesn't have a change-up light. FYI my S1 111S has a change-up soft limiter at 7300 rpm, and a continuous maximum of 7000.

Chaps,

I have on occasions had the red light come on - but as mentioned earlier - with the standard airbox it seemed pointless, there was no more pull due to the restrictive system.

The induction kit is superb, and I have noticed how much more the Elise will pull at the higher rev range

Thanks for the advice, I will continue to thrash.................with pleasure
