At my first service I got the dealer to sort out my leaky boot, which was getting "slightly damp" after a lot of rain... They re-sealed something and told me it was fixed.

After the rain in the last few days, I opened the boot to load up my gear for new years eve, to find the boot filled with water! At least 2 inches of standing water in there. What a .

The dealer apparently can't see me for another week, despite saying that when I bring it in, it's a "while you wait" job to fix it.

I guess it sounds like they're not planning on drying it out for me, which is a shame as I live in a top floor flat with no real space to hang up the interior lining... Anyone else had a leaky boot problem? Is it something I can fix myself, because I really don't want it filling up over the next week every time it rains.

If it all goes mouldy because of the damp, where do I stand on my warranty? Would they replace the lining for me for free? I doubt it looking at earlier posts on avoiding warranty work...

WHy not remove the lining yourself, is this possible on an S2 ?

I ask as I flooded the boot on my S1 with about 4 inches of water (accidentally removed the boot seal drain hose in the boot) and had to remove the linig and heat resistant foam from the boot for about 3 weeks . . . was all held in by velcro . . .

dried out fine in the end . . .

Ask for your money back.

This warranty issue hasn't been rectified satisfactorily and they can't be bothered to pay their mechanic a bit of overtime to fit the car within a reasonable timescale. Are they serious, are they trying to lose you as a long term customer?

Oh yes, practical steps.

A fax to Lotus Customer Relations Director asking them to send a mechanic from Norwich to Bristol forthwith in order to fix a warranty issue the supplying dealer has failed to remedy and is incapable of attempting to remedy within a satisfactory timescale. Failing this a full refund.

Great - I guess I can substitute the words "heat resistant foam" with "stuff that soaks up LOADS of water". I think it is all velcro'd into place, but living in a one bed flat with no garage, I think the burd is going to get a bit p1ssy with me hanging boot lining in the bathroom for 3 weeks!

I think I'll give the dealer a call again today and try and get them to come up with a more satisfactory deal.

Cheers chaps!

...If only they thought of putting a plug in the bottom of the boot!

Apparently locking stuff in a room with a dehumidifier works a treat when drying out wet car bits!

Never had to yet...
