Hi,
My lovely new S2 111S is currently being created by the kind people at Lotus & should be arriving early next year. The elise will be my only car & I love listening to music whenever I'm driving off the track.

The 4 speaker system is fine, but I'm after an mp3 player so I can have a load of music without having to carry aditional CD's or add the weight / wiring of a multi changer.

Idealy I'd love a Sony MEX-5DI (the tft colour one on TV -

but it requires a separate amplifier to run the speakers. I know that this is just wrong for an elise, but I'd really like this head unit & was wondering if anyone else had managed to find room for an amp & the cables involved. I promise I'll go on a diet to loose the 5 or so kg's that the amp adds!!

Thanks for any help.

Yep - thats not a problem :-) Im the same - do a lot of m/way miles - around 30K a year so need my tunes ! Ive got an Alpine MP3 player - would have loved the new Sony MEX with the 10GB hard disk in it...but £1200 is a bit much for me. Got an Alpine 7893 instead - can still get 10-12 hours on a cd-rom OK. Had a custom install done...some bits myself...main install by Sinclaire of London

total weight gain was around 10Kg including sub box, sound deadening etc...less than the air-con option ;-)

Sounds great ...cant hear anything but music at any speed...roof on or off. At Brands last Saturday my exhaust was fine...but the stereo hit 113-118dB in the cabin !

cheers

Thanks - I may look into it, but will probably need to save up another £1000

BTW - why do you have some sort of leopard instead of a handbrake??

Thats the infamous 'Handbrake Sleeve of Shame' usually awarded by/to members of www.seloc.org to owners who embarass themselves on track ...in this case it was awarded for the pimpy stereo :-) ...now I just need to wait until the next track day to off-load it onto someone else ! ...but then again it does match the colour scheme quite nicely ;-)

cheers
