Morning all... I know it's never going to sound the best because of the speakers and environment but... has anybody messed around with the settings and managed to make it sound reasonable?

If so, let me know!

Thanks...

Rob.

I'm having the same dilema at the moment - my current set-up is:
Bass +5
Treble +3
Fader +4 (towards front)
Compact car
X-Bass 80hz level 0

This sounds OK (ish).

Oh, and you need to set the treble & bass separately for each of the media sources - i.e. radio, Dab, CD & MMC/MP3. You only have to set the fader settings once and it does it for all.

The front speakers are slightly better than the rear ones even though they're smaller. Neither have very good bass capabilities and they can't handle the full bass output of the stereo but they do handle the treble ok. So I'm thinking about just getting a small sub put behind the passenger seat to fill the bass gap.
I have seen S Work's sub which runs off the speakers so I'm swaying towards that rather than mess about with new speakers that will only be marginally better.

S Works, could you let me know what sub it is that you have got in your S1??

Mine kept making a very loud regular beeping noise so I gave up and use FM all the time instead.

Had the same trouble with my elan m100, just got no bass at all.
I had a small pioneer sub woofer installed behind the seat. Difference was amazing, Just had it taken out to have fitted to my elise. It cost £360 fitted but well worth it!

Cannot remember how I sorted that one - on the day of collection mine kept doing it all the way home!

Thanks for the replies... minidiva - I'll copy your settings and let you know my thoughts!

No problem. Pioneer TS-WX105A

You know more about ICE set-up than I do for sure. My only requirements were "I just want it clean, and I want to be able to hear it above the engine on a motorway."

Posted this problem before xmas, couldn't get the sound right, either too much base on too tinny. Ended up playing with the Hz + and -, eventually found a happy medium. It takes a while but can be done. Its too complicated if you ask me.

You're welcome. You may find that perhaps my one may not fit the S2 (not sure how much space you have there, but bogie has a nice install in his so he may be able to offer some advice if that's no good.

BTW, if you do go for that one order online. You can get for around £100 now if you shop about.

Cheers mate, I'll have a look around, maybe bogie will see this post and let me know what he's got.
Shot2bits - sorry for hijacking your post, but hopefully it is helpful to you too!

Just incase anyone is worried that I'm going to turn into a towny girl racer with my bass lines booming down the Westover strip, fear not!! If that does ever happen, please confiscate my car and shoot me!

Top priority = driving experience, the stereo just gives entertainment between corners!

I've got a Woodstock 53 but think some of the problems are commom

The bleeping noise in DAB mode is caused by having the traffic information button on. Turn it off and the bleeping will go away.

Whilst you are never going to get great sound from the base syetem I found that time spent playing with all the 5 filters in the equalizer can make a lot of difference.

Hi all, Just my 2p worth..... I, too, have the Pioneer TS-WX22 subwoofer and I agree with Midas in that it sounds superb and unlike the Pioneer TS-WX105A which, despite being good and also small, takes up all the length of the shelf behind the seats, the WX22 is taller and narrower so means you still have storage on the shelf. Anyway, either way a sub is the way to go. For details, looky here www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/product_detail.jsp?product_id=9192&taxonomy_id=25-130
Cheers, Jon

Looks like a good price here;

Is it easy to fit then, do I need anything else?

Cheers...
