There is supposedly an autocar article that once again mentions the toyota powered Elise (220BHP 6cyl, 190BHP 4cyl) and this time includes a photo taken of the car - does anyone have this issue who could possibly scan that photo and post it here (if it exists)?

Ive got the issue, however no access to a scanner here at work. Might get a chance once I get home.

The picture was of the rear of an S2 with a very non-standard exhaust (emerged from a different bit of the bodywork) and a report from the photographer that it sounded like a V6...

The article goes on to say that the K series will be replaced by the 1.8 190 bhp lump from the celica.

Apparently we will have to wait till 2004 for them though, so no big suprises for next year

2004 is still fine by me seeing as how January '04 was the announced date for the US Elise (which is the one I am on the waiting list for).

If the article is accurate I will be a very happy person come delivery time.

Indeed... Autoweek and the others are just as bad if not worse, and I by no means take what they say seriously - it is simply nice to have something to think about to make waiting less miserable

If the rumours are true then it would make sense that they are developing some kind of high end or slightly stretched V6 Elise to replace the Esprit. If I was doing that I'd be testing the upgraded running gear on an Elise-derived mule. It would also be sensible to have lots of shared components and develop them in parallel. I guess we'll find out eventually, but I really hope they keep the light stripped down track day kind of car as well as something a bit more boxter-ish in feel.
