I'm looking at buying a Elise S2 111S. With the seat adjusted so that my legs are comfortable, I can't reach the steering wheel. The Elise steering wheel is a single nut on a spline fit threaded end steering column. I realise that a Momo conversion will allow the use of a spacer so that I can reach the wheel, but is there anyway to retain the lovely original Lotus wheel? I'd rather keep my car looking and feeling as standard as possible.

I asked this before, and I think that the thread concluded the Elise wheel was a six bolt job, but I had a look at one on Saturday and sadly it isn't.

I've looked on Eliseparts.com and no joy.

thanks

Phone Yvo Tuk at elise shop - he will tell you if it can be done and will probably sort it for you if it is possible. Good luck.

The pedals have limited adjustabiity, you could try to moved the pedals back a bit.
Combine that with a spacer that I don't see a reason why it couldn't be done, and you're in Nirvana.

Other than that, you could add some spacers to the rear seat mountings so they would effectively sit a bit more upright, getting your arms nearer to the wheel.

Some of the replacement steering wheels which fit the removable bosses are really superb Rob. Have a chat to Geary at Eliseparts, the people at Hangar111 and Yvo as suggested. I'm sure there's one out there which will be as appealing as the Lotus one.

I like the simple alcantara covered ones, not sure of the make, Sparco maybe. Put a Lotus sticker on & it looks just as good. You need to be comfortable

The thought had crossed my mind! Maybe I could operate the pedals with my knees?

The removable ones move the wheel a bit closer which I like. I think they do spacers for aftermarket wheels too.

If you do this, don't forget to put longer bolts in!
