Hopefully this tip will come as a godsend for Elise owners. I haven't been on PH for a while so apologies if this information is second hand. I think I have found the perfect way to get into an elise. Go in head first, putting your hands on the passenger cushion. Bring your left leg up and over the sill and into the footwell. At virtually the same time place your right hand on the sill and straighten both arms lifting yourself up. Now bring your right leg into the footwell and drop into the seat. Job done. This, if done carefully is so much more comfortable than going arse first and ofcourse it saves wear and tear on the sill padding (which judging by any interior photos seems to suffer as a result).

Is exit the opposite of this then? - must look really dashing! Anyway I thought the only way to get into an S1 was to take the roof off. (runs for cover and hides )

Open door, stick left leg in the the rest of me follows. Not as complex as your method but I think that is the joy.

Getting out is the interesting bit

Fold self in half, fall into seat, swing legs into foot well.

Getting out is, swing right leg out, fold in half and the same time as twisting right, stick head out. Right hand grabs hold of side of seat, throw self forward out of door opening. (Making sure left hand does not use steering wheel or A-pillar for grip, as rumours are that is bad )

The most difficult bit for me is the entry/exit procedure when no one is looking!!!

i.e Petrol Sations.

Stop car past the pillar (so door can open fully, watch out for the fire bucket!)
slide seat full back, (careful as your cd wallet/cap will have falled behind here on prior corner(s))
Breath in (now in early 40's so bit of a Fat B****d)

quick look round, just a snotty kid looking out the back of a Focus

Now perform that well practiced exit procedure, but in the back of your mind you know you have to perform this without stopping for a rest by sitting on the sill before the last heave out, which has the uncanny similarity of you getting off the pan!

After paying for the petrol - SH*T, got to get back in now!

F*** me that sounds like a palaver. I just open the door, stick my left leg in as far as it'll go, twist and drop my fat ass straight into the seat. Right leg either follows or gets left behind.

"Get in, sit down, shut up and hold tight!"

I'm with you on this one mate - but i'd guess its for the not so tall of us!!

getting in and out is easy, its reaching the damn ticket machines on toll roads or in car parks - you drive up close thinking you'll be able to reach this time, only to find that you can't, and that you are so close you can't get the door open!!

A tip for all you lads - avoid wearing skirts , it makes it a whole lot more challenging! Especially if you want to preserve your dignity!!

Go on, I bet you want to try it now....don't you!!

The best thing about a girl in the liz is if they are wearing a skirt, you will get a "flash" guarenteed!

Litterally a few minutes before the test drive, Fiona took one look at the Elise passenger door and turned round to me with a "F*** Off" I can't get into that with a skirt on. What a great way to stop her from driving it!!!

Yeah thats how I do it.

Is it just me though or does anyone else find it harder to get out of the passenger side than the drivers side. Thankfully I dont use the passenger side much but have to let Bal have a drive now and again.

Yup same here too - I'm about 5'11 and 11 stone so there's not a whole lot of me, which makes bending in half to get in (with roof on) a whole load easier.

I do find though that it's MUCH easier to get in and out of the driver's side (i.e. with steering wheel) than the passenger side - the times I've got into an Elise passenger seat and done it all wrong; I'm just not used to it!
