How to take both front wheels off
Discussion
I went to get my S1 front wheels balanced, and they are no longer completely round :-(
There is a local place that fixes bent wheels, but they take 5 days to do it, so I need to take in both wheels at the same time (to minimize withdrawal symptoms). I know how to jack up the car one side at a time, but I'm not sure how to support the front with no wheels on it, safely and without damaging anything, for a week. Any advice?
Look in the owners manual, it shows you safe points at the front to put axle stands under, carefully jack the car high enough at one side to put the axle stand under, then the other side . . . be very carefull, you really don't want to drop it . . . obviously.
Problem you may have is getting axle stands small enough . . .

Thanks, but I'm in California, and I'm going to try buying four boxes of paper as axle stands and see how it goes....
I do intend to buy a second set of wheels to put some Yoko 038's on, but don't want to spend the money on a new set at the moment.

OK, its forecast to rain all next week here in California, so I went and got some paper - the cheapest I could get was Xerox fanfold computer paper at just under $20 a box. Cool thing is that Staples has a 30 day return policy, so I think I can probably just take the unopened boxes of paper back when I'm done!
I put a layer of bubble wrap on top of the boxes to soften and protect them, and it went up quite easily. So now the front wheels are off and I'll be taking them in to be fixed next week.
