Hi,

Been looking at at 111R/ExigeS2 for a while now but starting to think i should maybe hang on until 2007 to see if an S3 appears. Anyone know if a new version is possible by mid 2007 ?

i.e seems to be endless speculation that all the new touring packs are test runs for S3 spec ?

If an S3 does come about, would you expect the performace to be better than 0-60 in 4.9, 0-100 in 13 and 150mph i.e is this seems to be what happened with older elise models.

Wondered if a super charger will ever arrive for the 111R/ExigeS2 or will Lotus introduce it for the elise S3 ...... help me out here god

I guess its a good problem to have.

Cheers
Scott

IIRC from recent news, the Supercharger can be fitted to an Exige S2 after purchase by Lotus Sport.

The fitment to an S2 Elise is only a matter of time, there arent any insolulable challenges to fitting it, the cicuit car concept IIRC had a charger fitting setup different to the Exige version and that may be more easily adapted to the S2 Elise.

As to a "new" Elise / Exige, I'd put money on that arriving 2007, considering the Esprit should hit towards the end of 2006 and the hideous Europa coupe arrives early 2006.

Unless anyone else has something more concrete than my speculation that is?

Anyone who is prepared to wait till 2007 for an elise will be seriously missing out. Chances are the cars will be heavier and further from the spirit of the original elise. If you want a totally driver focussed car - S1 elise. A great alrounder - 111r. With lotus you never know - drive a 111r and you will likely be hooked. If you don't like it, chances are you won't want an S3 (if it happens) either.

Nope I think your bang on here, I'd say 2007 early 2008 for the S3 There testing something and have been all summer with Multi cylinders, most of the testing seems to take place at night so I'd say that's the new super Car there obviously trying to hide something ? I haven't been told anything on this so I'd say that's going to be early 2007 by the stage there at ?

Oh yes!

Carpe diem, life's too short to hang about waiting like that.

Wait until 2007? Man you have patience! Have you considered buying a nice short roofed S2 now and save up for the MSC Honda Supercharger Conversion (approx £13k)?

That will blast anything that Lotus sticks out with an Elise badge on it, clean into the weeds.

Kind of set me heart on a 111R or Exige S2 (or anything newer that appears barr poxy racers). would prefer the Toyota unit to be honest. got a bit to wait until all the cash is in the bank anyway ..... patience’s yes, lots of that needed ..... but hey i can pass the time listening to you guys ranting on about how good they are

No definately with the lifes too short brigade here.

From a personal point of view, the longer it takes them to produce an S3, the longer my S2 will look the nuts!!Well, new anyway, S1's and S2's look the nuts anyway and always will!

S1 - if you want a brilliant car, with little creature confort. Personelly wouldnt recommend it as a daily Driver, but I know people that do use it for that

S2 - More subtle than the S1, more appropriate as a daily driver, also has the option to have the Yota engine

Honda SC - Modified S1 only currently, but remember something about an S2 option coming soon if not here already. Wait for Boggy/Bogies(can never remember which one of them has it) response on this one

I think it depends on how you look at it.

The signs that the S3 is not long away are that the current model is now 6 years old, looks like they are doing everything to run down current parts, LTD editions and shared parts for the new Europa, Could this be to save money to put into developing new products. Autocar have the Elise and Exige in the New Models section penned in for September next Year??? The other main reason for a new model is the need to pass the US bumper thingy by 2007 when there exemption runs out. We all know that if all goes to plan we will have the new Esprit in the next 18 Months, but is this project using up all the resourses and spending, that could well be determining factor in all this.

Perhaps the Europa has been pushed out on a fairly tight budget just to get a idea of what direction they want to go down for future models.

I personally would like to see the S3 as an evolution of the current car, but its going to have to be something special to get out of my S2.
