The way you drive? - they are already dead mate! When you do replace them, don't go for oem - use pagid RS42's. Much better braking grip, consistency, durability etc.

Morning Goobs,
We have replaced front pads on vehicles that have covered as little as 9000 miles, rears generally last a bit longer, almost double the mileage in many cases.
Cheers

No ridicule, you display a level of mechanical sympathy and smoothness in your style. I am just plain old brash and agressive.

I changed the pads on Davey's Exige S2 after 5000 miles because they looked like this

See don't use rubbish OEM's - the same pads are under 30 quid from a motor factor! Get something decent and don't mess your discs.

Plenty of meat still left on them - must have money to burn

If you are going to do trackdays, pagid RS42's - they don't squeal like the RS14's. You can get them for (I was told on Seloc, under 100 quid a set) - bloke called slug. I paid a bit more. On a tighter budget, fast road mintex 1144. Other option was SBS pads - cheaper than pagids but very good. Lotus want over 100 for the OEM's!

I will look for some links. I also put in braided lines - fantastic improvement in braking with the RS42 pads.

If you are registered on Seloc.
http://forums.seloc.org/viewthread.php?tid=62248#pid

Here are a few comments by people that seem to know their stuff:

A mix of my experience and others comments...
OEM parts and EBC green stuff - very average on road, and poor on track.
Pagid's... twice the price, can also be noisy but good on the road and stunning on track. Rs 4-2 or RS14 compound.
Compromise seems to be Mintex 1144 or SBS, both a bit cheeper, beter than the most but not as good as Pagid.

SBS ProTrack (orange) are a good aternative to Pagids

My oem's that I took off look absolutely mint compared to that - half wear on the fronts. I will post a pic. (after I find my handbag) I clearly need to bow in the face of superior committment!

I refer my pikey colleagues to a previous thread; my OEM pads (www.apec-braking.co.uk) after the frist two owners had amassed a huge 5K miles in 3 years still had 9mm on the front and 6mm on the rears (double what the Pagids have from new). I removed them after the first track day as they only last 2 laps then stop working. £40 the lot from a motorfactor and not worth that or the time it takes to fit them.

>> Edited by hbaumhardt on Tuesday 6th December 20:27 to say that the previous owners were clearly complete pussies

>> Edited by hbaumhardt on Tuesday 6th December 20:31 to say thatm, no really these pads are desperately awful. Think of the most useless thing you have ever owned (or loved) ... yes worse than that

Ok, I have ordered a FULL set of Pagid's from elise parts. What a tetchy site. I am still unsure if the pads are correct. It does not specify 111R just "all elises". A bit vague seeing as the rest of the site is pretty much dedicated to the S1 loosers (Joke!) and the payment thing wanted my numbers 4 times. I was going to get some braided lines as well but the level of detail is cr@p and I didnt feel confident. Elise parts - Sort it out!

I hope they are as good as you say cos when Mrs Gooby sees the price I am going to be walking like john wayne and any questions about having kids will be redundant. If they aint good, I will send her to see Shangani - He better be as good Dr as he says he is!

If I am going down, it wont be alone!

I hope you ordered pagid RS42's. The Rs14's are totally track biased, are ceramic and need a bit of heat to work properly. Squeal too. On the track though, they rule.
