I'm seeking sympathy...
I haven't had my car since Friday, and unlikely to get him back until this Wednesday
It's got a bad case of leaky-roof and they've had to pull the headlining out to get to the leak which is distressing me - I hope it doesn't scar him!
Hopefully this will fix it for good as it was in 2 weeks ago to have one of the seals changed (not the one that was leaking as we now know), and that meant I was without it for 3 days then.
I'm getting really restless now as I'm itching to go for a drive now now now. AND it's been dry weather which adds to the frustration.
I opted out of a courtesy car as I don't want to drive anything else, so I'm stuck at work, bored, waiting for a lift!!
I think i'll drown my self-pity down the pub

I was without my car(and I live alone, so no other car) for almost 4 weeks! til I got it back from the police, now I have to wait till 18-01-2006 before I've got my license back...so got the car back but I still can not drive it!
They've got my doing 255kph in the night 03am on a empty highway with a sneaky lasergun from a bridge above the road, they stood in the corner...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh
Now I can't go annywhere without help from someone...
So I feel with you...

255 kph - GTRene I am impressed.
No wonder you want engine mods! That is 37kph faster than I have ever been bust for speeding (not in the UK). I made the newspapers - I am sure you did too. However, I got off my fine as I was on duty going to an emergency. Otherwise I would have had to sell my car (M3 at the time)to pay it. In the UK you would have got a seriously lengthy ban.

Thanks...and yep, I made almost all the papers in teh Netherlands ans some big TV channels...
And that was not that good because the judge had to do something now more then ever, but when he saw me he nows I'm not a hooligan and know what I do with cars...but they had to do something, but I did not get that max!...so I have to wait and pay a lot! 1250,-euro's thats more then I get every month(I'm at home "can't" work)
And on that road I've got the topscore(recorded) they told me...so thats one win
, but also a big loose for the money and total more then 3 months no driving

My fine would have been over £3000. In South African terms it was 5 months salary for me! Thats why I bought the elise - feels faster than you are actually going. Which car were you in? The beemer?
3.000,-gbp?
and yep that was in the beemer(see profile)...it drives to easely that kind of speeds, by example I also had the M roadster and that felt that feeling about 30<>40kmph earlyer, and thats why I also want to buy a Lotus Elise/exige 160 in that car feels almost the same info by 240 in the beemer...so I have to change because after 18 jan when I got my license back I stil have 6 months on probe? when I drive 30kmph faster in that period I loose my lisence again for a period of 6 months!! and I like to get adreline from a car, but I love my license
so I have to follow more rules....stresssssss but I guess you know al about that in GB? GTRene
Beemers with powerful engines do tempt you to drive fast - mine was an E46 M3 with a stage 2 chip (speed governor for 250kph removed + extra 300 rpm redline) + sports exhaust and induction. Got it to 285 on the clock in the middle of the night (in the middle of nowhere - no bridges / houses / people etc).
I did not buy another in the UK for the reasons you mentioned. Good luck and thamks for all the entertaining posts.

I saw it o your profile from the E46 M3, I got the same engine (E46 M3) in mine(but the car weights almost 150kg less
) and got the speedlimiter of and a tuningchip for more revs and hp, also a special airbox and exhaust...my speedo is very accurate(cause'd of tires and wheels) and I've got 280 on it while still founding new power, but then I saw cars and let the power down so I won't scare other road users to much...I think a lot of others on the road, but also on my own pleasure ofcorse
The higher revs the better the car sounds...so I have to take myself in protection( for the law) and buy another car...and maybe do trackdays with it and go more to the Ring in germany...but that cost all a lot petrol and money, so I have to see how I can do all that, hopefully in Januar I get a Lotus Exige Cup 240 when all fits me and them...

Ditto on the mods on the M3 - it was certainly a wild beast. You and I certainly have similar ideas on this!
I used to do long distances - right across the country at night mainly (little traffic). I went ice climbing several times a year - 1000 mile trip in around 8 hours. Totally different kind of car to the elise.

consumed much wine....and feeling festive...hic!!
Yes, thanks guys - I know my woes are a drop in the ocean really, I'm just not hardened to the pain of lotus withdrawl yet.
I have had 4 weeks of usage and I'm hooked, lack of supply is leading to grumpiness and severe cravings for the next fix...is the Lotus a drug in disguise????
Do they offer rehab under warranty? >> Edited by minidiva on Monday 5th December 22:42
Hey MiniDiva.
It was good to meet you 2 the other day !
I feel your pain too. I know only too well what its like to be without out. When mine had a bump, it took Westover 2 and a half months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To fix it. Lotus has no stock of one of the parts I needed. It was hell. It wasn’t too bad though as this happened over winter and they gave me a BMW Z4 for the duration which was a little easier to live with during those cold months…..
Just think how good it will be to get it back. I tend to fix most problems myself now itstead of having to go without it for a few days….

Beachbum - prior to coming to the UK, I used to climb several times a week (Reading a bit flat). I did waterfall type ice climbing in a mountain range called the Drakesberg. I have climbed a few times in Scotland (Ben Nevis) and Wales since being in the UK. Mainly just to keep skills up for climbing in the bigger ranges - Andes (Bolivia, Peru, Chile), Alps, Himalaya and Karakoram. We usually do a major expedition every 2 years. If this winter gets cold enough, there may even be ice climbing in Snowdonia in Wales (around Llanberis) Also great driving roads. With the difficulty of getting out, I have been more focused on the car and trying to get into trackdays than climbing, but the desire is still there.

Minidiva - Saw your car yesterday out in the car park at Westover service. Thought they were supposed to be drying it out ?
I'm guessing it was dried out on Friday - hope so anyway or it will stink by now! Nothing quite like having a car that smells like cabbage!
It's typical though, it's been dry all week so far - even with the sh!tty weather forecast for the weekend the sun managed to shine, dammit!
You watch, the heavens will open within the hour of me getting it back - place your bets please!
