What a cock and I feel ashamed to be associated with this other Lotus driver.

This guy comes back to his car to find someone parked too close. God forbid, he had to get in the passenger door and climb over (I've had to go in through the boot before now). What does he do? Wind his window down and 'key' the other car as he pulls away.

Fishtek69 says:

"I've only ever keyed a car once, and I don't even feel remotely guilty about it.

Had parked my car right in the middle of a (mostly empty) supermarket carpark one evening, with no vehicles around me. I returned an hour later to find that an MG ZT have next to me, so close (WELL over the white line) that it was physically impossible for me to open the drivers' side car door and get in my car. There were literally hundred of spaces right around the car park, so there was no need for him/her to park next to any car at all, let alone so close to mine.

I walked to the back of the vehicles and took a picture on my phone of how close the two cars were, making sure I'd highlighted the fact I was perfectly within my 'lines' and the other car was not. I then climbed into my car through the passenger door and across to the drivers seat. I started the car, opened my window, and used my house key to make a deep scratch in the side of the MG's passenger-side door. I then drove off.

As the car park was so empty (and would have been all the time I was parked there) I could only put the driver of the other car in two categories. Either 1) they were being deliberately awkward, or 2) their driving skills and eyesight were so bad that they should not be allowed to drive a car anyway."

The rest of the Lotus owning community says get lost.

You are not, and can never ever call yourself an enthusiast.

A proper knob-jockey if ever there was one. I've said my piece on that thread.

I think the general PH sentiment is covered in the original thread.

Unfortunately there are no laws against people like this buying fantastic cars like the Exige, but luckily they're pretty much a minority and we true enthusiasts can disassociate ourselves from them.

I would have tucked a stern note under the other car's wiper, myself.

In a word... shameful. I particularly like his justification.

WTF? I think I just heard the world's smallest violin playing a lament. He is slightly inconvenienced by having to use his other door, so he commits criminal damage to the tune of probably hundreds of pounds. Nice. I hate to think what he would do in revenge if someone keyed *his* car.

Like Vincent Vega says in Pulp Fiction of keying cars "it's chicken shit... you don't f**k with another man's vehicle". So instead, I keep a few of these for use in inconsiderate parking situations...

edited to add - someone beat me to posting the above link in the original thread. D'oh! Nothing to see here, move along

I have really enjoyed some of the discusions with fishtec. He has seems like a genuine guy. I see there is some sort of "almost" apology, but not enough.

We have all acted rashly when provoked but being proud of our actions afterwards is not acceptable.

Having been on the recieving end of this type of vandalism and really been upset that there are people out there who are that small minded, it is the last thing I would ever do. It is the fault of the driver NOT the car.

An enthuiast does not vandalise anothers car. It is wrong and there can be no justification (that I can think of).

Fishtec - please see the error of your ways and issue an apology. A proper apology.

I think fishtek has a point.... the other idiot obviously parked like that on purpose - the parking lot was empty after all. I find it unbelievable that people cannot park generally, and when some tw@t comes along and does that to get up someone's nose they should expect retribution in measures at least equal to the inconvenience they caused.

Myself, I'd have let all 4 tyres down, not keyed the car, but then I'm a little nastier than Fishtek I guess. For idiots who just can't park out of sheer incompetence, as opposed to the genuine malice this incident was, I usually just lift their wipers up so they are aware that someone took objection to something they'd done and they would have the slight annoyance of having to stop to put them down again.

it, there are just too many idiots out there, and if they want to present themselves so openly for abuse, let 'em have it with both barrels!

I very rarely park the liz in a public car park let alone a supermarket car park. I know it is a very quick way to get a car vandalised.

The one time I have parked in a supermarket car park I choose the furthest and most quiet corner possible. I returned to find a chaved up astra (blue with white stripes) parked on my door handles.

These morons think that somehow thier car is cooler by association so I suppose it is some sort of unwelcome compliment.

I did not key or vandalise the car, it may be cr@p and inconvienient to me but the owner thinks it is his P&J.

After spending months and a considerable amount of money restoreing a MR2 only to have it keyed every few months, god help anyone that keys may car.

The driver is at fault not the car. If you feel that bad, take it up with the driver. It is a chicken who resorts to this type of violence. Be a man and tell the owner to learn to park.

Looking back (over two years) what I did was probably the wrong thing to do. It was an overreaction provoked by what could only be a hostile or deliberately awkward act towards me - I really cannot believe the parking was just genuinely that bad.

I haven't once tried to make excuses for what I did, other than to say it was in a moment of anger when I was younger and a less serene individual.

I have also NEVER said that I was proud of my actions; please don't mistake my ignorance of the burden of conscience for pride in what I did, as they are not the same.

For all those who need to hear me say it, I apologise if my actions have caused you distress or anger in any way. I believe most of us do foolish things in our time, and it is blatently clear that this was one of them.

I deeply regret sharing my experience with the forum, as there are obviously a select group of members who actively enjoy the chase of the 'witch hunt' involved with discovering of another members' past exploits. I really do feel that the associated threads on this forum have been tarnished by the fact that some people cannot have a objective conversation about something - they set their mind to an opinion and seek only support for that opinion. I have had conversations in these threads before where, depite the fact that people have dissagreed with my opinion or outlook, everyone has managed to remain civil and not resort to name-calling.

Yes the main difference here being the actions you took were criminal, and you saw fit to brag about it on a public intenet forum.

Morning all,

I can't understand why any one would want to do this, I had an incident recently where I had to defend myself and got into an exchange with someone, he's been throwing his weight around for some time and I felt it appropriate to show him the error of his way's. Now this guy is about 5 Stone heavier than me so I don't feel guilty in any way for taking the action that I had to take.

Basically he couldn't beat me hand to hand and mentally I'm miles ahead so he comes up to my friends house where I parked my Lotus and then smashed a bottle against the window, thank god there was no damage and he must have thought better than to try again. Word also has it that he then came back with a Knife (to slash the tyres)

This sought of behaviour is unacceptable in any circumstance I don't understand people who try to take out there anger on people's car's, address it with the pearson concerned and don't result to violence unless absolutely necessary

Maybe people are calling you names because we are all passionate about our cars and what you did is out of order and lets down the car enthusiast community in general.

Trying to turn it round to make out you're being victimised is a bit rich to be honest.

Still if one person thinks twice before keying a car as a result of having read this thread then that is something we can all be thankful for.
