Resume of my first track day with a standard 111R, Spa =Francorchamps, dry, sunny weather no wind. Just perfect

1. Did 230km and retank 41.4 liters (dashboard mark was empty, I mean EMPTY), that is 18 l/100 km

2. Did a 360° at + 70 MPH, was not in the perfect line, felt the rear coming limit and then (not realy in once but too quickly to control) snap 180°, clutch, full hard brake, smoke, tyre noise and another 180°, stopped, everything ok, nobody around, 1st gear and go again. Loss concentration for one lap then back to limit minus 1.

3. Before the spin, the famous MIL light started to work (not flashing), phoned the dealer, no problem, no loss of power, car at 92-95° while driving... When taking the car back to home, light was off again. Will go to the dealer to be sure. Any idea??

4. The R was a real pleasure, but to keep on 2nd came from 4th to 5th, it was taking a too long time to be at 8000RPM in forth(driving without roof). Does anybody else feel the car stopping to really accelerate at 120mph?? Do the exiges feel this? (Davey?)

As far as the MIL light is concerned, I've had a similar experience excpet the light stayed on.

Explanantion given to me was that the Engine when being driven hard needs to have the Oil level right up to the max. Allegedly this is because the Oil pressure drops as the level of oil goes down and when the Car is being driven hard, Oil pressure becomes more critical.

Have taken note of this and do keep the oil level at the max or as near to it as practical and no issues since.

bher - always remember when taking it on track to check oil water levels and the amount of pad wear left before you go out each time.

Not really, got to keep in the 2nd cam zone to keep the R accelerating - I noticed that the car does hit a brick wall at those sort of speeds unless the revs are >6.2K RPM...

I found 140mph to be attainable in a reasonable time - summer evening, midnight no traffic er... and on the track of course Have to be honest and say i've not really tried to max the R out other than a couple of times (hence my last post) as basically the public roads never present a decent opportunity unless it's the middle of the night and then im way too shattered!

Well done on going for the track - sounds like you had fun
